New Publication：私の歩み

　掲載が決定してからなんらかの事情で3年間お蔵入りになっていた論文がイギリスで無事出版されたようだ。今日、ハードが郵送されてきた。

　1998年度（実質的には1999年）に提出した私の修士論文*1は元ダンサーで映画監督になったレニ・リーフェンシュタールを題材にしたものである。

修士論文を提出したその後、数年後にスポーツ史の中村敏雄、スポーツ社会学の清水諭らが編集をしている「現代スポーツ評論　5」に「幻視と映像 -レニ・リーフェンシュタールの作品に-」と題したリーフェンシュタール論を発表する機会に恵まれた。これは私の最初の雑誌掲載でもあったが原点となった学位論文の一部分に着想を得ることから生まれた論考だ。

2001年にこの論考を出した翌年の2002年に私は舞踊批評家になる。45年前に私と全く同じ足取りを経て世に出た舞踊批評家がいた。

　その数年後にロイ・アスコットらが編集をしている”Technoetic Arts”からリーフェンシュタール論のさらなる射程となる論文の掲載決定を受けていた。なんらかの事情で掲載決定の通知を受けて後の加筆修正のプロセスが上手く機能しなかったのだが、無事、出版することが出来た。この論文は正式に私の修士論文の延長にくる論文ということが出来るだろう。

　ジャンルで言うと”視覚文化論”というジャンルの論文である。

編者のロイ・アスコットはイギリスのメディア美学の研究者として知られているが、メディアアートの初期からの熱烈な実践者・推進者で様々な展覧会で活動をしながら大学でも教育としてきているというスケールの大きい人物だ。

Article Title: Leni Riefenstahl and German Expressionism: A Study of Visual Cultural Studies Using Transdisciplinary Semantic Space of Specialized Dictionaries

Abstract:
This paper reports an analysis on Leni Riefenstahl and German Expressionism by transdisciplinary semantic associative search spaces for specialized dictionaries: Longman Dictionary, Oxford Art Dictionary, Oxford Ballet Dictionary, and Oxford Politics Dictionary in database.

With this semantic associative search space in database Kitagawa and Kiyoki.(1993), the quantitative data on context of objects in database as representation can be visualized by number.
The semantic associative space search in database (Kitagawa & Kiyoki, 1993) represents quantitative data of objects` contexts in database by visualizations of numbers.
The method of image analysis is qualitative, however it is based on quantitative analyses of visual representation supported in the database. Through this analysis, Riefenstahl's film is compared with Nazi Ideology on body image. The film is often categorized as a "Romantic Film."
However, this paper proposes a new interpretation of "Fest der Volker." Based on the theories presented by Jonathan Crary "Techniques of the observer" and Martin Jay, "Downcast Eyes" and combining these theories using the database system, this paper proposes a new interpretation of the representation and the mechanism of connotation in the contents of database system: "Fest der Volker"("Olympiad ") by Leni Riefenstahl and German Expressionism, as a study of Visual Cultural Studies.
By the support of digital technologies, new direction in the humanities is indicated.

　アスコットやピエール・レヴィ、Eduardo Kac*2といった査読チームの面々の中にバーバラ・スタフォードが入っていたので、東大で行われたカンファレンスで研究発表（http://d.hatena.ne.jp/yukihikoyoshida/20070714）をした折に、Keynote Lectureで来日したスタフォードに、当時お蔵入りになっていた原稿がどうなったか聞いてみたこともあったのも懐かしい思い出だ。

　今を思い起こせばリーフェンシュタールが踊りを習ったことがあるマリー・ヴィグマンや同時代のラバンについて研究をすればまた違った人生を送っていたのだろうと思うときがあるのも事実だ。*3

今日では私は映画ではなくライブアーツの専門家になり、舞踊批評家として活動し、Writing以外にも様々な活動をさせていただいているが、（http://d.hatena.ne.jp/yukihikoyoshida/20081214）、この一連のプロセスは無駄になっていない。このような活動があって今日があるということができる。
