I am thrilled to announce the final 2009 pilgrimage is ON for October!
The first one in June was profoundly fulfilling. We were able to connect intimately with butoh at its source with Kazuo Ohno and his son Yoshito in classes and visits to their studio and home; performed with Yoshito at a live Jazz/Butoh event in Yokohama, created a full evening performance offering at the Ohnos studio; attended the SOIL festival with ritual rice planting and performances with Min Tanaka at Body Weather Farm; attended a number of other seasonal festivals related to the roots of spirituality in nature and the body, including carrying a huge shrine on our shoulders through the streets of Tokyo, ritual dance & butoh in an ancient forest mountain temple, climbing a miniature version of Mt. Fuji, soaking in Hot Spring baths and eating fresh seafood on the Isu peninsula coastline and
much more.

The final 2009 Butoh Source Pilgrimage will begin on October 7th. From October 9-11 we will attend the WATER festival with Min Tanaka on his Body Weather Farm. We will then attend numerous workshops, performances and events including ones with the Ohnos and Natsu Nakajima at their home studios. We will also pay visits to key temples and festivals that illuminate the connections between spirituality, somatics and nature that form essential roots to the source of butoh in Japan. We ha ve a tentative Tokyo performance scheduled in mid-October with well-known Japanese
recording artist Marron. Mostly we will practice our daily butoh dances and training day to day and be open to the lessons, invitations & adventures that are certain to spontaneously emerge when we set out on this devotional path. You will have daily opportunities to practice and direct this path based on your soulful curiosity and passion.
I will stay till at least Kazuo's 103 Birthday on October 27th. You can arrange to join/leave the pilgrimage at various points along the way between OCT 7-29th depending on your availability, budget and interest.
